MediaTek, a major player in the mobile chipset market, has officially announced the launch date of its next flagship processor. The company’s Weibo post hints at a launch event on September 22nd. The long-awaited new Dimensity 9500 chipset will initially power premium smartphones from Vivo and OPPO, before expanding to other brands.
Dimensity 9500 to deliver top-tier performance
According to reports, the Dimensity 9500 features a powerful 1+3+4 CPU configuration: one Travis core clocked at 4.21GHz, three Alto cores clocked at 3.50GHz, and four Gelas cores clocked at 2.7GHz. These cores utilize the latest technologies from Arm’s new X9 and A7 series.
The chip also stands out with its Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU, built on a new architecture. This new GPU promises over 40% energy efficiency and a 40% increase in ray tracing performance. Early benchmark results predict ray tracing-enabled games will reach over 100 frames per second, a revolutionary development for mobile gaming.
The platform is equipped with 16MB of L3 cache, 10MB of SLC, and NPU 9.0, which delivers 100 TOPS of AI performance. It also features LPDDR5x memory with 10667Mbps speeds and UFS 4.1 storage support for faster data transfers.
The vivo X300 series will be the first to launch the Dimensity 9500. The X300 Pro satellite communication variant, leaked last week, surpassed the 4 million AnTuTu score, making it the first Android device to break this record. However, the AnTuTu score of the OPPO Find X9 Pro satellite communication version, confirmed today, even surpassed the X300 Pro’s record.
MediaTek also shared its future plans. The company confirmed that it is working on a new flagship chipset using a 2nm manufacturing process. This chip, likely called the Dimensity 9600, is expected to enter mass production in the second half of 2026.
